About LMI

The Research and Analysis Bureau is Nevada’s premier source for labor market information. A part of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR), the Bureau is responsible for creating, analyzing, and reporting Nevada’s labor market information, in cooperation with the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The Bureau is composed of 4 units, each responsible for different programs.

The Labor Market Information unit (LMI) is responsible for collecting, analyzing and publishing labor market statistics. The LMI unit produces the State's industry employment projections and manages the Current Employment Statistics program. Data is presented to the public through the Workforce Informer website, our monthly Labor Market Overview and Economy in Brief, research notes and other publications, in person presentation, and webinars. The Occupational Information unit is responsible for creating occupation level labor market statistics such as wage data and occupational projections through the Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) program. The Covered Employment unit is responsible for gathering information on the states industries and creating the statistics regarding employment covered under the State's Unemployment Insurance system through the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW). The Management Information Services unit (MIS) is responsible for preparing and submitting a number of reports covering the state’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) program to the US Department of Labor, and is the Bureau’s link to the Nevada P-20 to Workforce Research Data system (NPWR).
